We put to her some of the most asked questions when it comes to wedding tailoring and she’s shared her expert knowledge with us below…

When should I book my wedding alterations appointment for?
I would suggest no less than 6 weeks before the wedding.

What will I need to bring to the appointment?
You will need to bring the dress (of course), the underwear you will wear on the day and your shoes (or those of a similar height). You may wish to bring accessories and your veil too to get the overall look, but it's not a necessity.

How long will an alterations appointment typically be?
Generally alterations appointments are between 30 minutes to an hour. This can of course vary, depending on how much needs doing.

How many fittings will be needed?
Generally just two. The initial fitting where we will pin the dress and then the final fitting, where you will try the dress on once altered. If all is ok, you can take the dress away that day. If you're still not happy with the fit, a third fitting will be required after any additional alterations have been made.

What’s the typical cost of a wedding dress fitting?
The fitting itself is free, however the alterations generally range from around £60-£280.

What should I do if I gain or lose weight?
I would recommend leaving your fitting as close to the wedding as possible. That way the dress can be altered as true to your changing body shape as possible. A quicker than usual turn around can be facilitated if requested, I would recommend a fitting around 4 weeks before your wedding.

Can you adjust my dress to suit my design preferences? Such as add sleeves or lace?
Yes, that's certainly something that can be discussed and facilitated.

Should I practice my hair and make up for a fitting appointment?
It's not necessary, but you of course can if you'd like.

How long do alterations take to make?
Alterations generally take around 1-3 weeks, depending on the severity of them.

How many people can I usually bring along to a fitting appointment?
I would recommend bringing 1-2 people with you. It's lovely to have someone with you who's opinion you trust.
