A beautiful spot to get married in no matter the season, the French Alps provide a spectacular backdrop of both the soaring mountains and expansive tranquil lakes, making it a truly magical spot to get married in. 1. Chateau Voltaire

Built in the 18th century and the prior home for 20 years to the famous philosopher Voltaire, this stunning Chateau is located close to the Swiss border in Ferney. Surrounded by 7 hectares of parkland, the venue has been beautifully renovated in keeping with the original architecture and features its own on-site chapel and ornate Orangery for receptions. Located just 20 minutes from Genève Airport, it can host up to 200 of your guests outside or 100 inside and has an impressive late license until 4am.

2. La Ferme Du Lac Vert

Located near the Montriond Lake in Morzine known as ‘Le Lac Vert’ for it’s emerald green colour, this wedding venue features the most spectacular scenery. A former 19th century farmhouse that combines character with modern day comforts, it is set at the foothills of the Nantaux Mountains and feels wonderfully peaceful and tranquil. Get married by the shoreline with up to 120 of your guests, followed by a dinner reception either in the garden or within the house. The venue has it’s own in-house chef, 12 bedrooms available and handily has no curfew on when the party should end.

3. Abbaye de Talloires

A pretty venue located in Talloires on the shoreline of the well loved Lake Annecy, Abbaye de Talloires was initially a chapel turned monastery built in the 17th century by Benedictine monks. It is now a luxury 4 star boutique hotel and know to be one of the loveliest properties in the area, complete with waterfront terraces for hosting your wedding upon. The venue can host up to 250 of your guests outside or 200 inside, has 36 bedrooms available and a 2am late license. It has plenty of other additions that you can enjoy throughout your wedding weekend, including spa, wellness and fitness facilities, private access to the lake and a wine cellar where they host wine tastings.

4. Chateau de Menthon

Another beautiful venue located on Lake Annecy, Chateau de Menthon is a historic 12th century property with panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. It is one of the very few castles in France that has belonged to the same family for the past 23 generations and can host up to 200 of your guests outside or 120 guests inside. Known for its wine, the hills surrounding the castle are used as vineyards, along with a wonderful wine cellar inside that makes for an atmospheric and romantic ceremony backdrop.

5. The Farmhouse Morzine

A wonderfully charismatic boutique hotel nestled inside Morzine’s oldest building, The Farmhouse is a great wedding venue choice for all the seasons. Filled with crackling open fires, cosy lounge areas and flame lit dining in the winter, and surrounded by pretty grounds for the summer, it’s a venue that can be embraced in a variety of different ways. Exclusively yours for up to 120 guests, you can host your reception within their stone walled dining room, outside on the lawn or in a marquee in the grounds for larger garden parties. Restful and welcoming, it can host your nearest and dearest in their 11 luxurious bedrooms, where guests can wake up to breathtaking views of the water’s edge.

6. Chateau de Duingt

A real one of a kind wedding venue, this stunning chateau has been occupying the Duingt Peninsula for nearly 1000 years and is surrounded by a large park, with 360 degree views of the twinkling lake and majestic mountains. Declared a historical monument of the French Cultural heritage, this venue can host up to 140 guests outside or 40 inside and features five beautifully decorated rooms and terraces that meander down to the lake. The venue also has a lovely music pavilion close to the water and a private pier, so you and your guests can arrive by boat from the lake to the gardens.

7. La Croix Des Champs

An authentic Savoyard house located on the shoreline of Lake Annecy in Haute-Savoie, this lovely wedding venue dates back to the 18th century and was originally a mansion within a vineyard, complete with a press and barn. Lovingly restored by the family who have always lived in it up until today, La Croix Des Champs spans 800 square metres of grounds and can be exclusively yours from Friday to Sunday, with the ability to sleep up to 29 guests. The venue has a real family home atmosphere and can host your reception of up to 140 guests either in their Le Pressior, a 130 square metre hall with the original wine press and lake views, or the Le Chai, a 50 square metre space in an old vaulted stone wine cellar.
