8 Beautiful Wedding Venues in Bordeaux
As the world’s largest urban UNESCO World Heritage Site and France’s 6th largest city, Bordeaux is a lovely mix of 18th century and modern architecture teamed with cool urban street life. With River Garonne running through the middle, the city is also surrounded by green sun-drenched vineyards, making it a beautiful wedding venue by the water, but with picturesque countryside and of course, delicious food and wine.

1. Chateau Peyronnet
Featuring beautiful neoclassical architecture, this 18th century chateau feels relaxed and comfortable yet refined and elegant. The venue can be hired for the full weekend and can host up to 150 guests for a sit down dinner in their Salle de Fresques, with views overlooking the pretty courtyard. Other notable features of the venue is it’s listed chapel, swimming pool with outdoor bar and BBQ and car park for up to 150 cars - which is particularly useful if lots of your guests are planning on driving over from the UK. For the days around the wedding, the surrounding area has a lovely golf course and plenty of nautical activities.
2. Chateau Grattequina
Located close to Bordeaux in a renovated park overlooking the river, Chateau Grattequina is an architecturally beautiful wedding venue both inside and out. Arrive to your wedding ceremony on their 12 passenger boat with your groomsmen and bridesmaids, or if you’re feeling really boujee, you can have all your guests arrive by boat thanks to their private dock. Host your cocktail reception on the terrace facing the river followed by dinner and dancing either in the Pavilion or outside in the grounds of the chateau for up to 250 guests. Alternatively if you choose to exclusively hire the whole venue and hotel, you can host your dinner for up to 350 guests in the main hall. Handily they also have a separate room available for babysitting and the pavilion can be hired the next day for a brunch or lunch too.
3. Chateau Mader
A prestigious chateau wedding venue located in a large flowered park near the Bassin d’Arcachon, Chateau Mader marries traditional and modern perfectly. Fully air conditioned with a sound system running through the lounge and gardens, it can host 150 of your guests for a sit down dinner outside or 100 guests inside within their lounges. The garden has a beautiful flower pavilion, cocktail area, lawn for a tent and sea view terrace at your disposal along with an in-house event manager to accommodate to your needs. The venue can sleep 30 guests in a choice of 5* suites, bedrooms and apartments and has a luxury concierge service too. 4. Chateau Gassies
Located in a clearing surrounded by old oak trees and 14 hectares of land, Chateau Gassies is wonderfully rural and yet only an hour’s flight from Gatwick. Say your vows in the middle of the park or under the arched windows of the 19th century covered courtyard, followed by cocktails on the West terrace of the castle. Host your dinner within their impressive reception room, adorned with chandeliers and antique mirrors and have up to 43 of your guests stay in their collection of elegant suites and cottages. Owned previously by the man who helped discover Impressionism and supported the artistic likes of Monet, Degas, Manet and Renoir, Chateau de la Valouze is a beautifully impressive wedding venue that can be exclusively hired for 2 nights or more. Tucked within 34 hectares of parkland, it’s a beautiful backdrop to all parts of your wedding day and can sleep up to 61 of your guests within the chateau and the surrounding buildings.
6. Chateau Sentout
Located on a hill facing the Garonne valley and positioned in the middle of 15 acres of lawns and grasslands, Chateau Sentout is a calm and tranquil location in which to host your wedding day. Host your wedding or blessing within their chapel followed by a reception under the illuminated arches of the Roseraie, or under the stone columns of the veranda. It’s perfect for an intimate wedding and can host up to 50 guests and sleep them within their 22 ensuite bedrooms spread over 7 house in the main courtyard, making up a little wedding village. Plus you can nurse any hangovers the next day by their heated pool.
7. Chateau Lagorce
Surrounded by an ancient woodland, private lake and beautiful gardens, Chateau Lagorce is a fairytale setting for your wedding day. Choose to dine with 150 guests under the stars on the terrace or within the lovely Dining Room with beautiful panelling and a Louis XIV style fireplace. The venue enables your guests to stay over across 22 bedrooms too.

Located on the crossroads of the vineyards of Cognac and Bordeaux, this Chateau is a Renaissance architectural jewel and an impressive 5* hotel. For your ceremony, choose to get married in either their small on-site church, or in the park under an ancient oak tree or romantic pergola.
