6 Ways to Make Your Wedding Stationery Personal to You

Creating wedding stationery that is unique to you as a couple is a lovely way to introduce your guests to how your wedding day will be. Lots of your friends and family will often keep them as a reminder of the day, so investing time in your stationery is always a worthwhile and enjoyable thing to do.

We spoke to wedding stationery designer and illustrator Helena Kruger at Blecktorn Design, who often designs entirely bespoke invitations for her clients, to find out how she makes them extra special and personalised for her couples.

1. Match the colour scheme to your wedding

If you already know your colour scheme for your wedding, then this is a great opportunity to give your guests a taster of how your day will look and feel. Not only will it help get them excited for it, it’ll serve as a nice reminder after the wedding has happened.

2. Design a monogram with your initials

Another popular idea is to create your own bespoke wedding monogram, intertwining your initials and any other little details that are personal to you both. The opportunities to apply this monogram are endless, with many couples applying it across their full stationery suite and even on napkins and glasses that they go on to use within their home for years to come.

3. Illustrated map of the location

If you’re doing a full wedding weekend somewhere, a really thoughtful idea is to create an illustrated map of the area for all your guests. Not only is it a beautiful keepsake for everyone, but it’s also a really informative way of letting them know more about the place you’re getting married in. You can signpost everything from the church and venue, to the hotels and local attractions for them to check out.

4. Add illustrated flowers that match the flowers on your wedding table

A lovely subtle way to link your wedding day to your stationery is by featuring little floral illustrations on you stationery suite that match those on your wedding tables and in your bouquet. It’ll also mean that your on the day stationery such as table numbers and menu cards will fit in perfectly too.

5. Use calligraphy with your favourite ink colour on your envelopes

Have a particular colour you love or that features a lot throughout your wedding day colour palette? A nice touch is to carry this colour through into the calligraphy ink used to address your envelopes, providing a sweet, subtle nod to the style of the wedding day.

6. Print on handmade paper since every sheet is unique

For a more one of a kind, hand finished feel, printing on handmade paper can really make your wedding stationery feel extra special. With every piece of paper being different both in texture and how it’s torn, each invitation will be entirely unique to each and every guest.
