2. Gilpin Lake House  

Located within a gorgeous family-owned, private estate in the Lake District National Park, Gilpin Lake House is a 5 star charming country house hotel that’s just a stone’s throw away from Lake Windermere. Surrounded by 100 acres of scenery, woodlands, gardens and its very own lake with a boat house, this lovely venue can host small weddings of up to 60 guests. 3. Low Wood Bay Weddings 

Nestled in one of the most desirable lakeshore settings between Windermere and Ambleside, Low Wood Bay has recently had a multi-million pound expansion to create new facilities, making it a real standout wedding venue and hotel. Say your ‘I Do’s’ in one of their three civil ceremony rooms, and make the most of their private jetty for photos and private cruises with family and friends. Host celebratory drinks on their lawn with views out to the lake, followed by a reception inside one of their lovely indoor suites.

4. Merewood Country House Hotel 

Dating back to 1812, Merewood Country House Hotel is a charming wedding venue that overlooks the longest lake in England, Lake Windermere. They have several rooms to choose from inside, with each feeling wonderfully sized to weddings of different guest numbers. For intimate weddings, their cosy wood panelled Library or light filled Drawing Room are both lovely. For medium to large weddings, their high ceilinged Arboreal with views of the ground is perfect, as is their spacious event suite too.

5. Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa 

A luxurious and memorable wedding venue, Lodore Falls Hotel is a waterfronted location with beautiful vistas over the lakes. Set within 40 acres of verdant grounds, the venue is set against the rolling mountain side, with the Lodore Falls sweetly tumbling in the background. Make the most of their Garden Gazebo for the ceremony, or one of their six distinct suites inside the hotel. Host your reception drinks within their pretty Conservatory followed by your evening reception for up to 120 seated guests in their Derwent Suite. Set amongst scenic countryside, Broadoaks Country House is a charming and quaint spot for a wedding. With the ability to host up to 130 guests, it has four ceremony spaces to choose from. Most loved is The Upper Lawn, an idyllic setting that boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys. 7. Silverholme 

Set within the 5,000 acre, privately owned Graythwaite Estate in Cumbria, Silverholme is a pretty Georgian manor house nestled amongst rolling fields, sitting directly on the shores of Lake Windermere. The venue has several indoor and outdoor spaces to choose from for both your ceremony and reception, including a panoramic patio overlooking the lake that is perfect for an outdoor ceremony. For larger weddings, you can place a marquee within their grounds or host within one of the house’s pretty main rooms.

8. Askham Hall
