6 of the Best Romantic Places to Get Married in France

Known for it’s fairytale chateaus, stunning views and delicious food and wine in a location that is very well placed for destination weddings, it’s no wonder that so many couples choose to get married in France.

In our time writing about weddings all over France, it’s fair to say we’ve gained a hefty amount of knowledge on where exactly are the most loveliest spots to get married in this country. Below we’ve listed just some of our favourites, along with links to the best venues in those regions.

1. Cote D’Azur

With beautiful views of the glistening blue coastline and surrounded by verdant countryside, it’s no surprise that the region of the Cote D’Azur is well loved by celebrities, couples and well, just about everyone. Stunning, historical venues are perched right by the waterline, with decadent architecture both inside and out, creating the ideal location to host your ceremony and reception.

2. Loire Valley

A beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site with the pretty Loire River meandering through the middle, the lovely Loire Valley is known specifically for its prestigious vineyards which are the producers of wines such as Sancerre, Puilly-Fumé and Chenin Blanc. With over 300 chateaus across the region, you’re spoilt for choice with venues to get married with in, so we recommend a fact finding road trip to explore all the spots it has to offer.

3. Paris

Known the world over as the ‘City of Love’, Paris will forever be a chic and romantic destination to get married in. We particularly love Paris for elopements and intimate weddings, where you can truly indulge in all the luxury that the city has to offer, wining and dining your guests in style. Many of their premium venues feature al fresco terraces with unparalleled views of the Eiffel Tower, forming the perfect backdrop to ceremonies and receptions. Plus it’s so easy to get to from the UK, making it an easy sell to any guests who may feel uneasy about a destination wedding.

4. Bordeaux

As the World’s largest urban UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bordeaux features a wonderful mix of 18th century architecture juxtaposed against modern architecture and cool urban street life. With the River Garonne running straight through the middle of the city, you get the best of city living, with water fronted venues and sun drenched vineyard spots too.

5. Provence

A region that really personifies all that everyone loves about the South of France, Provence is a beautiful spot for glorious sunny weather, colourful countryside, rolling lavender hills and delicious food and wine - most notably it’s well loved Provençal Rosé. It’s a destination where you can choose between venues in both beautiful countryside or tucked right on the glistening coastline.

6. The French Alps

A wonderful place to get married in any season, the French Alps combines a beautiful and unique mix of both soaring mountains and stunning lakes, that looks equally breathtaking covered in snow in the Winter, or verdant and green in the Summer. You’ll find lots of great wedding venues in the areas that surround the mountains, including Grenoble, Chamonix, Annecy, Chambéry, Morzine and Évian-les-Bains.
