Sometimes when you’re fancying a wedding in France, you want to embrace the lovely hot weather, great food and laidback nature of France but getting married in chateau isn’t quite the right thing for you. If you’re after a more chilled wedding, that’s where getting married in a rustic barn is the perfect middle ground. Below we’ve listed 10 of our favourites. 

1. Coco Barn

Located in Agresse, between both the sea and the countryside, Coco Barn functions a bit like a wedding ‘mini village’ and is a lovely romantic and bohemian wedding venue. Alongside the central lodge where you can host your wedding reception, there are 3 other lodges for you and your guests to stay in too. The 6 hectare estate is also home to two pools and you can host up to 100 of your guests there. 

2. Idyllic barn 

Nestled within 20 acres of peaceful countryside, this barn and its surrounding land provide lots of picturesque locations for the ceremony. For the reception, enjoy drinks in the courtyard or in the shade of the open-fronted stable barn. You have the option of dining al fresco or in the party barn that seats 50. In true French venue style, the venue has two swimming pools for you to enjoy. 

3. Safari Lodge 

Perfect for relaxed, festival style weddings, this venue sits within 23 hectares of sprawling land that includes 2 lakes, a forest, paddocks and a swimming pool. It both cater for and sleep 45 of your guests, so it’s ideal for an intimate wedding. It is newly opened and is exclusively available in June, September and October. 

4. La Colombiere

An informal and relaxed venue, La Colombiere is a stone-built farmhouse surrounded by lots of pretty vineyards and sunflower fields. It can host up to 80 of your guests and can sleep 46 and has the option of an all inclusive package or the ability to pick your own suppliers. Enjoy drinks in the courtyard or gardens and your wedding breakfast in the atmospheric old barn. Plus as per, there is a swimming pool available too. 

5. Romantic Barn

Lovingly restored to retain its original features, this venue is a very stylish home away from home. With 40 acres, it is romantic and relaxed, with the ability to pick your own suppliers and no corkage. The barn can host up to 80 of your guests and has its own bar, Napoleonic fireplace and medieval chandeliers to really set the tone. There’s accommodation on site to sleep 14 and lots more nearby too. 

6. Former Castle Barn 

 A former castle farm surrounded by woodland and meadows, this lovely venue can host up to 160 guests and sleep 40 across their 3 houses that are designed in the style of beautiful mountain chalets. The venue is exclusive use, features a swimming pool and has a great golf course nearby. 

7. Le Moulin De Chazotte 

A historic French watermill with a Charentaise barn nestled amongst cognac vineyards, Le Moulin De Chazotte is a really unique venue. It is French in style with a good pinch of old English hospitality and tradition. The venue is set within 11 acres of land so there’a plenty of areas to choose from, including the option of a ceremony in the secret river garden or a party in the barn. All the packages also include 1 week’s on site accommodation so you can really turn it into a fun wedding holiday.

8. Domaine De Lauzel

Located in rural South West France, Domaine De Lauzel is a beautiful and large estate complete with an infinity pool, a tennis court, a working vineyard and 40 acres of land. It is perfect for an intimate and wholesome wedding, with 3 lakes to enjoy, BBQs by the pool and fresh eggs from the chickens!

9. La Léotardie 

Located near Bergerac, La Léotardie is located within lush rolling garden grounds and features a 600 hectare forest. The venue can host 100 of your guests and has a beautifully restored dovecote building as its centrepiece attraction, along with 4 other lovely buildings at your disposal.

A great spot for more intimate weddings, this venue can host up to 57 of your guests and sleep 15 within its grounds. Celebrate your wedding within the outer barn and enjoy a lazy BBQ the next day alongside the swimming pool.
